‘I am Depressed!’ – who?

‘I am Depressed’ – I wonder how many times I have come across this depressing confession by people in recent times especially during this pandemic.

Depression is not a good state of mind anyone prays to be in. But what happens when you slightly or gradually find yourself or someone around you in such a situation?

So, I would be talking about 3️⃣ quick emergency solutions you can proffer to a depressed person.

1️⃣ Ability to speak out.

Ability to speak out is one major way to help a depressed person. Most times, this category of people do not have the inner strength to speak out.

I recently spoke with a friend who was already in the state of emotional and mental depression and I realised that he found it challenging to confide in people. So, it is pertinent to encourage them to speak out. Be their strength to speak out and respect their ability to speak out to you.

2️⃣ Effective communication.

Communication with this set of people is very crucial. All means of communication must be adopted. The more you talk to them, the more they relax and get their minds together. Hearing is a strong mechanism of communication.

What you hear all the time has a great impact on your mind. Learn to listen to people who find it comfortable to tell you they are in a state of depression. It heals them up.

3️⃣ Encourage them.

Covid-19 has brought a lot of goods and bads to humanity, especially people with so many prospects for this year 2020. One thing I also noticed is that individual set goals can be a major cause of depression.

Many people set goals at the beginning of a new year, but due to one factor or the other, these goals are not achieved. This, if not managed properly, can lead to depression.

My dear, the fact that you have set some goals and unable to achieve them, is not an automatic transition into depression.

Depression will not solve the problem, rather complicate it. Depression leads to suicide. Suicide is not always and will never be the solution to any pressing problem.

Another cause of depression according to a few people I spoke with said, the people around them expect so much from them.

Don’t let anyone use his own stage of success as a yardstick for yours. Kindly use your own measurement, create your own world, please God and be happy.

I hope this post helped. Kindly share across.

  1. certainly like your web-site however you need to take a look at the spelling on several of your posts.

Several of them are rife with
    spelling problems and I find
it very bothersome to inform the truth then again I will certainly
    come back again.
