Business trends. The new normal. New economy. And the necessities of life. That’s all we keep hearing and reading about. The COVID-19 pandemic suddenly arrived and changed the narrative of almost everything in the world. Then, the introduction of the new normal.

Many decades ago, we were taught the food, clothing and shelter were the three basic necessities of life. Well, true, but how relevant are these in the current situation in the world.

I would not deny that we cannot overwrite these but then with the increase in knowledge, research and advancement, the basic necessities of life could have shifted.

Food remains a very important necessity of life. This has caused a huge transformation in the handling of this need across the world.

According to the United Nations Member States in 2015, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by all as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.

Out of these 17 goals, SDG 2 which is Zero Hunger has been on the heart of many world leaders who aim to ensure that no one is hungry. We have also come across Non-profit organizations who focus on this goal. 

In Africa, the necessity of food has enlarged the agro-business
and brought to limelight the efficacy of food production
in various parts of the continent.

According to www.farmafrica.org, Agriculture is Africa’s biggest employer. In eastern Africa, 70% of the population and most people living in extreme poverty make a living from farming.

In my beloved country, this is one lucrative business that has refused to go into extinction despite the introduction modernization into other sectors of the economy.

The food business is one basic necessity that has come to stay and established itself in many nations across the world today. 

This business is wide enough to permit interested investors or business-oriented people to delve into. There are various aspects of this lucrative business you might want to consider.

Another good part of it is that you can start this business with any amount you have. You don’t have to wait till you have millions of naira in your bank account before you start. It is better if you have a substantial amount of money to invest, but, if otherwise, it should not be a determinant factor to investing in it.

You might want to consider investing in agrobusiness. This is one of the essential businesses in the world today, considering the pandemic.
